My #1 Secret to a Successful Newborn Session | For Photographers

I know how it feels to show up to a newborn session feeling frazzled and anxious. Will the baby go to sleep? Will my clients be dressed appropriately for my warm studio? Will the baby be fed and ready to go?

I get it, friend. I remember walking into sessions wondering all the same things. But I want to let you in on a little secret to combating that with my #1 secret to a successful newborn session…

You tell your client how to prepare and show up.

Yep! It’s that easy.

If you tell your clients that your studio will be hot and they should wear light clothing, they will.

If you tell your clients that baby should be kept awake for an hour or two before the session, they will do this.

If you tell them to time their feeding for when they arrive to the studio, they will be prepared to do so.

You know why? Because they want a successful newborn session, too. They don’t want to drop money on a session to get mediocre pictures. They’re going to do their part so that their outcome is the best it can be.

And to accomplish this, you have to send them a guide lining out exactly what that means to be successful.
